First midwifes appointment

week 8.

I should have had this appointment a couple of weeks ago, but things and stuff happened and it got put off till today. It's the same midwife I saw for my last pregnancy, who is very nice and kind. she asked me all kinds of questions about my health, and weighed me, and took my blood pressure, and measured my height, and took 3 vials of blood (which we were both quite impressed with given my veins are tiny and really deep under my skin, so are very hard to find, normally I end up going to the hospital phlebotomist for blood tests).  Apparently everything is nice and normal, which is good news. I now have a big file to take to all my appointments, filled with things that the NHS needs to know about me and baby. I have also got my dating scan booked for the 17th. For the first scan they can do a test that can give you an indication on if your baby has down's syndrome, I have decided not to do this, for a start, it is only an indication, you can easily get a false negative, so I could end up massively worried for no reason, and also...it doesn't matter to me if my baby has special needs, I will still love it and care for it, no matter what.

Now I have the scan to look forward to/dread in a couple of weeks, and a very sore arm.
