There is an awful lot I could write about right now, because everything is new and different. so instead i will bullet point all the new things that i can think of that I've learned so far.
- new born babies really do come with hats.
- breast feeding is hard! (i could do a whole blog just about this topic, so i'll just leave it as, its a skill that takes time and patience to learn)
- breast feeding makes you both very sleepy and very very very hungry.
- breast feeding is still totally worth it.
- babies come with lots of paperwork.
- babies like to pick the most difficult time to get hungry or need changing (i'm mainly typing this one handed).
- babies have really loud farts.
- their initial nappies (the ones filled with meconium) smell and look a lot like henna.
- everything they do is the cutest thing in the whole world (until they do the next thing)
- to make their hiccups stop you need to feed them.
- baby sleeping bags are a fantastic invention.
- you go through sooo many baby grows, cotton wool pads and nappies.
- they can literally make themselves sick from trying to eat too much.
- nursing bra's are also a fantastic invention.
- they will sleep through absolutely anything as long as you are cuddling them.
- in their Moses basket they will sleep through absolutely nothing because they want cuddles damnit!
- loving your little one isn't like a thunder bolt from the blue, but more like a growing plant developing and twining through you in unexpected ways.
- everyone wants to come and visit you! (this can be a little overwhelming)
- naps will become your new best friends.
- being able to lie on your front again is heavenly.
- you think being disturbed all through the night will be a nightmare, but...it's not that bad (it's not great, but not that bad)
- you have milk ducts right the way under your arms and when they get too full they get very very sore.
- your stomach will look like a wreck, part saggy and part still all inflated.
- your boobs will grow to epic proportions when your milk comes through.
- it's all a bit overwhelming.
- it's as good as you think it will be.
