growing up

11 months

Its amazing how fast Tabitha is growing up. She's crawling and pulling herself to standing, and her babbling is getting more and more like words. shes also just getting much better at communicating with us all, with her smiles and pointing. she's incredibly good at explaining what she wants without saying a word...

its all happening so quickly. she went from just about able to crawl, all awkward sprawling legs and falling on her face, to having her virtually scuttling across the floor and then pulling herself up on the nearest piece of furniture and using it to walk along. she learned pointing and waving in the same way...just suddenly seeming to get it. shes also good at the game where i hold out my hand and ask nicely for whatever she's holding, and she hands it to me (this is a useful game because it means i can ask her for items she shouldn't really be playing with and then i can exchange them for something she should be playing with instead without a tantrum). she's also paying a lot more attention to books (she loves lift the flap books) and she's getting very very good at my kindle...

this all makes her both easier to handle, and harder. she's a lot happier entertaining herself, because she doesn't get so frustrated, she can get to and explore what she wants...the down side to this is that you have to be so much more vigilant with her because she can get to and explore what she wants. and what she seems to really yearn to play with are power cables. she has also managed to pull 2 keys off my laptop keyboard and seems determined to get at the rest of them.

she's also getting really big. i was trying to find something for her to wear the other day and realized that half of the clothes she owns don't fit her any more. as an adult, if you find a nice top for £10, that's a real bargain, but for a baby who might only wear that top for 3 months...that's suddenly a waste of money. and it does take a while to acclimatize to that idea. I've got some gorgeous clothes for Tabitha that we're now just going to be giving away (I know we could ebay them...but after you pay for postage and ebay fee's it isn't really worth it).

Tabitha also has 4 teeth now. it was strange, for months and months she had all the signs of teething, pain, red cheeks, dribbling, constant chewing...but then it all calmed down and about a month later her first tooth arrived. and the next 3 teeth have come through with no symptoms at all.

in other news...i'm trying to start up a parent and baby group for people with mental health problems...so...we'll have to see how that goes.
